Why You Need Motivation to Lose Weight

By Jesse Regan

Have you hit a rut in your workout routine? Do you need to lose the excess weight but feel lacking in enthusiasm to get on with it? If so, you may need to be motivated to start and especially continue on with your quest to fitness and being in great shape. You have to remember that motivation is everything.

Motivation is everything. You need it in order to be able to really push yourself to work out. Remember that motivation is really important. It will provide you the push needed so that you can start working out and stick with it. Motivation keeps you stimulated and will help you to do things right. Having the right motivation will enable you to start and then keep on working out.

However, you need to realize why you want to work out. There is no other person who can answer this question so you have to be very honest. You also need to work out who you are losing the weight for. Doing it for yourself is the best way that you can succeed. Even if other people want you to lose weight, you should want to lose weight for yourself while making those people just part of your motivation. Now, if you are unsure of what your motivations are, you can find ways so you can create the inspiration needed to get you started.

First of all, you need to look for examples of the goal that you would like to accomplish. You need to think about how you will feel when you have achieved that goal. You need to assess your lifestyle, your current weight and state of your health and see how they keep you from enjoying your life as fully as possible. Once you have done so, what you need to do is to create a list of how you would see yourself and how your life would change if you were healthier and fit.

Next, you will have to think of positive motivations instead of negative ones. Since if you have negative motivations, they will make you hate working out and not give you enough reason to continue. You also have to resolve that you want to make a change for yourself and not for somebody else. Having good motivations comes from you alone, not from any outside source.

Lastly, it is a good idea to make a promise to yourself and to the people closest to you as well. These people could be parents, family, friends and other loved ones. Doing so will make it very hard to blow off the commitment that you have made to get healthy by working out. A good promise is to join a fundraising athletic event to raise money for charity. You can push yourself to continue with your workout so that you can participate. If you don't then you will feel really guilty because you will be letting yourself down and you will also be letting the charity down as well. Also, some of these charity athletic events even give you free coaching.
