Everyone wants to lose weight quickly, right? For most people, weight gain happens gradually over a number of years, but when you finally realize how far you've let your body go there is a real sense of urgency to lose weight quickly. The real trick to taking off weight quickly is to develop an effective weight loss exercise program, though most people will waste years on random diets before realizing this.

Actually, your results in the long term are more likely to reflect the exercise you put in, not your diet! So, how will a weight loss exercise program help you lose weight quickly?

Calorie Burn

The most basic formula for weight loss is to consume fewer calories than you burn. When this is done on a regular basis you will lose weight quickly just as a result of creating a deficiency in calories that your body needs for energy. The rest of the calories needed will be drawn from your stored fat deposits.

When you are gaining weight, you are giving your body too many calories and forcing the excess to accumulate in your fat cells. To lose weight quickly you must do the opposite, which is to short change your body on calories to a certain extent. Just don't go too far on this or you'll go into starvation mode and start storing calories instead! You have to strike a balance here.

A good weight loss exercise program will expand your calorie burn day after day. This accomplishes two things:

1. It enables you to eat a bit more without gaining weight.

2. You will need more calories to perform the workouts in addition to typical daily activities, so your body will start to utilize stored calories from your fat cells.

Of course, for this to work your diet has to be reasonable. If you increase calories taken in along with calories burned you aren't going to lose weight quickly.

Lean Muscle Mass

An effective weight loss exercise program will also strengthen your body and increase lean muscle mass so that you appear smaller than you actually are! Mostpeople who perform some sort of strength training at least 2-3 times a week will notice changes in the shape of their body before the scale displays a dramatic fat loss. This is because a lean body looks more attractive than a flabby body!
