Weight Reduction Is Massive... It's essential to grasp that the business of slimming is exactly that - a very profitable market. Several billion dollars of diet products are purchased every year.

Just How Much of a Problem Is There Then? Whether you personally are obese or not, the chances are you'd be happy to lose some weight. It's now believed that in the USA alone, around seventy percent of people are too heavy. Which amounts to some two hundred and ten million folks... But overseas it's not much better - a startling sixty percent! It's a sorry state of affairs.

In Great Britain, it's estimated that one quarter of the adult population is at least 30-40 pounds overweight. But look at this - It might be around twenty five per cent now, but it could be ninety per cent by the middle of the century.

It really does not have to happen though. Nobody would wish this problem on either themselves or others. But we don't have to fall for the commercial pills and potions - what we need is reasonable, workable advice.

It's a well known fact that obesity can lead to many major problems - Type two diabetes; mental health problems; high blood pressure; heart disease & heart failure; cancer; liver disease; osteoarthritis and high cholesterol. This illustrates that we don't just need to lose weight so that we can look more attractive.

Fat loss isn't about getting to size zero - you should be aiming for a weight that's good for your health. The right weight for one person isn't necessarily the right one for someone else. We all need to be able to maintain a certain weight when we've reached it.

Those of us with kids should be thinking about their health as well. Parents need to lead by example, and guide their kids towards healthy choices. Nothing will change if we keep doing the same thing. Do you really want that burden for your offspring?

This means we MUST get to grips with healthy eating. Understanding good and bad nutrition is paramount. We have no chance of teaching our offspring how to eat well for good health if we don't know how to do it ourselves. Look at this over the long haul.
