Self hypnosis needs to be completed in a quiet and relaxed area to be effective. After you are comfortable the next step is to have completely relaxed muscles. Begin with the toes and gradually relax your way up to your shoulders. Once you are completely relaxed, clear all negative thoughts from your mind and count backward from twenty. You will know if you are in a hypnotic state when it feels as though you have begun to fall asleep.

Once you have gotten in a hypnotic state it is time to make suggestions. They should all be positive and repeated at least twice. While you are giving suggestions attempt to picture them. For example, if you want to be a size smaller, picture yourself this way, exactly how you want to look. Continued positive suggestions to your sub conscious will always be in your thoughts. When you feel the exercise is complete, begin to wake yourself up with slowly talking until you reach a conscious state.
